Hide and Seek

See the kid?  They love to play hide and seek when their daddy gets home in the evenings.  But this wasn't during the game, this was while I was making dinner...

A better view.

Not sure why this picture came out so fussy on their faces.  :(

According to Jude...

Since Jude now has a few words he can say, I have a new series of posts to begin.  Instead of "Jude-isms", we are going with "According to Jude".  He's so different from Riley, so he needs his own series of cute sayings.

The other day, I was flossing my teeth when Jude came in (probably to ransack the hair accessories drawer as he loves to do). He looked at me quizzically so I told him that I was flossing.  He looked down at the ground, shook his head, and said "Gross." I almost choked on the floss because I laughed so hard.  He only has a few words he can say, but he definitely got that one out loud and clear.

Cabin Camping

Last weekend we went camping. Sort of.  We rented two cabins on White Rock Mountain which happens to be close to everything if you are a bird, but a million miles away if you are bipedal and use a car for transportation. I left my camera at home, so I got NO pictures.  Sad face. But maybe I can talk Kari Penturf into sending me  couple of pictures she snapped while we were there.

We went with the Smith family, Penturf family, and Alex. Calah couldn't join us because her dad just came back from his tour in Afghanistan. Again, sad face.

It was colder than we hoped for and it got even colder and windier, but we still had a great time.  The cabins were part stone, part wooden.  The wood burning fireplaces were amazing at putting out great heat for the cabins.  Rustic is the best word to describe them.  All the kids' socks were blackened with dirt and grime, but they had a great time getting that way.  And with every outing, I am learning that Jude not only loves to get dirty, he has a great ability to find any and all dirt and fully immerse himself in it.

My favorite part of the weekend happened at meal times.  We ate inside because it was chilly outside, and super windy.  But each cabin had beautiful wooden tables complete with old chairs and benches.  These tables were placed right in front of the fire place in the middle of the living area.  So our meal times were full of great company with friends, lots of the cutest and sweetest conversations, a cozy warm room, and amazing food.  There is nothing better than being surrounded by these things on any weekend, especially camping ones! Smiths, Penturfs, and Alex (hopefully Calah next time) we can't wait to do it again!

Laundry Day

You aren't really cool unless your Momma lets you watch Sesame Street in your very own laundry basket on laundry day.

According to Jude...

This is Jude's "cute face".  He likes to show us how cute he is...but only seems to do it after he's eaten a full meal. Fitting.  I mean, that's when I feel my cutest, after I've made a happy plate.

Jude is SO full of words these days.  He can tell me most things he needs or wants in small words. His most spoken word right now is "Mommy", which I hear multiple times a day.  But the other night, he spoke his first sentence. "Nigh nigh Riwee." Short, sweet, to the point, and to his favorite friend, playmate, and sister. I love it.

Then this morning (a snow day which I'll post about soon), he woke up and said, "Hi Da-ee!"  Looks like we officially have two talkers in the house.  This is going to make for very lively conversations at the dinner table.  I can't wait!!!

Calling Card

Some criminals have a "calling card", a hint or mark that they leave at the scene of a crime. Jude has developed his own calling card.  I can always tell where Jude has been playing because he always leaves behind either food or a toy.  Folding laundry and find an apple slice?  Just another day at the Woody house.

I haven't caught each "calling card" but apparently happened to catch every apple slice.  Not sure if I just had the camera at arm's length every time I gave him an apple slice or I feed him apple slices constantly, but that's almost all of the pictures I have.  This one is well hidden on a play plate and fake donut.  Who knows how long it was there before I realized it wasn't part of their pretend kitchen food?

This one was easier to spot and I'm sure it was only there for a few minutes...or so.

See it?  Yeah, it took me a while too.  Maybe I should start strapping Jude in his high chair before feeding him apple slices... Another object he leaves behind, trucks.

Good thing I saw these before I threw something away or tried to recycle!  A crushed truck or Lightning McQueen will ruin a boy's day.  This boy definitely keeps me on my toes.
